Pick Up and Drop Conveyance Facility – Bus Timing

We are offering a Pick Up and Drop conveyance facility on 23rd and 24th August during morning and evening time. Delegates can avail this facility from selected points in the city. The Bus service timings are mentioned below.

Community Engagement Workshop

Community Engagement Workshop on SIGHT, EPICS and TISP hosted by IEEE Kerala SIGHT and IEEE Kerala GOLD SIGHT with support from IEEE SIGHT is planned to share the needs of the society where the technology solutions are required to address humanitarian issues by experts and to share the experience of volunteers who have already provided solutions for demanding humanitarian issues. The event is scheduled on 23rd August at Technopark,Trivandrum. This will also serve as a platform for coveted speakers to address the “Engineers of Tomorrow” and introduce to them the areas where “Technology Demand” is required to solve  humanitarian needs.

GHTC SAS Student photo contest

Dear IEEE Student Members,

You are invited to participate in Student Photo Contest of GHTC South Asia Satellite Conference (GHTC-SAS). The deadline to submit photos is July 1, 2013   July 15, 2013 (Updated).

 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Participant must be students and must be an IEEE student member or an IEEE Graduate Student Member at the time of the submission of the photo. Doctoral students cannot participate. The photos should be based on GHTC-SAS theme:

  1. Distributed Renewable Energy Generation and Microgrids
    Distributed solar generation; local and micro grids; wind energy, conventional and blade less; biomass and biogasifiers; wave energy; microhydel; submersible microhydels; solar concentrators; energy storage mechanisms; In-vehicle energy generation;

  2. Municipal Solid Waste Management
    Biodegradation; automated solid waste processing; landfill; incineration; recycling; resource recovery; e-waste management; gasification; plasma; hazardous waste management; membrane bioreactors

  3. Inclusive Technologies for the Differently-abled
    Mobility enhancement; emergency response systems; assistive systems; software-based assistive systems; prosthesis; computer accessibility

  4. Agriculture, Water, Disaster Management, Health and Education (Open Track)
    Innovations in humanitarian technologies in agriculture, water management, disaster management, health, education, financial inclusion, gender and culture and knowledge management.

  5. Emerging Technologies for Humanitarian Applications
    Innovative technologies that have potential for use in humanitarian technologies.

 

The selected photos would be displayed during the GHTC SAS 2013, being held at Trivandrum, Kerala on August 23-24th.

 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Students interested in participating should follow the following two steps.

  1. Mail the application forms along with photos(min 3.2 mega pixels)  to shonejose@ieee.org before the specified deadline.

  2. Subject line should be of the format: GHTC SAS Student Photo – <Photo Caption>.The selected photo for the contest would be intimated to the author after evaluation.

 

Rules regarding the contest:

  1. The photo that is submitted for the contest should not be previously published or presented at any other place that secures copyright of the photo. If any sort of plagiarism or copyright issues found for your submission, we would not be considering them.

  2. All participants must be IEEE Student Members or Graduate Student Members. Doctoral students are not allowed to participate.

  3. Each contestant can send maximum 3 photos.

  4. Photo should be in JPEG format.

  5. Photo should be of minimum 3.2 mega pixels.

  6. The judging will be based on originality of the photo.

  7. The photo may be of solutions of humanitarian problems using technology.

 

Applications must be submitted via email only. Application submitted through any other means would not be considered for evaluation.

The organizing/review committee of the Photo Contest at the GHTC SAS reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning any reason.

All rights of the submitted photo is reserved with GHTC-SAS and IEEE.

You are invited to participate in Student Video Contest of GHTC South Asia Satellite Conference (GHTC-SAS). The deadline to submit videos is  July 1, 2013  August 1, 2013.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Participant must be students and must be an IEEE student member or an IEEE Graduate Student Member at the time of the submission of the video. Doctoral students cannot participate. The video should be fully the original work of the student(s) and completed before they have received the engineering or science degree. The videos should be based on GHTC-SAS theme:

  1. The idea that is submitted for the contest should not be previously published or presented at any other place that secures copyright of the idea. If any sort of plagiarism or copyright issues found for your submission, we would not be considering them.

  2. All participants must be IEEE Student Members or Graduate Student Members. Doctoral students are not allowed to participate.

  3. Contestants may be individuals or a team comprising of up to four members.

  4. Maximum duration of the video is 3 minutes. Longer videos will be disqualified.

  5. The judging will be based on originality of the idea, way of presentation and impact.

Applications must be submitted via email only. Application submitted through any other means would not be considered for evaluation.

The organizing/review committee of the Video Contest at the GHTC SAS reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning any reason.

You are invited to participate in Student Poster Contest of GHTC South Asia Satellite Conference (GHTC-SAS). The deadline to submit posters is July 1, 2013 July 15, 2013.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Participant must be students and must be an IEEE student member or an IEEE Graduate Student Member at the time of the submission of the poster. Doctoral students cannot participate. The poster should be fully the original work of the student(s) and completed before they have received the engineering or science degree.

The students can send in ideas or designs for developing projects/products for humanitarian applications. The selected posters would be displayed during the GHTC SAS 2013, being held at Trivandrum, Kerala on August 23-24th.

The students interested to participate in the contest are supposed to submit the application form before the specified deadline to sreevas@ieee.org (with Subject GHTC SAS Student Poster – <Poster Title>). The selected posters for the contest would be intimated to the lead author after evaluation. b)  The idea presented must be original

c) Teams selected will be intimated through the lead authors of each poster.

 

Stage 2

a) Teams selected in Stage 1 will prepare a poster with their ideas

b) The size of the posters will be a max of 80cm by 60cm

c) The posters will be displayed at the venue of the contest

d) The Team members will make a presentation on the posters

e) The Judges will evaluate the posters & presentations and declare the prize winners

Recognising the potential for humanitarian works in South Asia region, IEEE GHTC and IEEE Kerala Section will jointly host the GHTC South Asia Satellite Conference (GHTC-SAS) during 23-24 August 2013 at Trivandrum, Kerala India. This satellite conference will focus on addressing pressing humanitarian challenges and issues in South Asia. Consistent with the GHTC objectives the South Asia Satellite Conference, invites submissions under the following four tracks:

  1. Distributed Renewable Energy Generation and Microgrids
    Distributed solar generation; local and micro grids; wind energy, conventional and blade less; biomass and biogasifiers; wave energy; microhydel; submersible microhydels; solar concentrators; energy storage mechanisms; In-vehicle energy generation;
  2. Municipal Solid Waste Management
    Biodegradation; automated solid waste processing; landfill; incineration; recycling; resource recovery; e-waste management; gasification; plasma; hazardous waste management; membrane bioreactors

Accepted papers that are presented at the GHTC-SAS Conference will be published along with the GHTC 2013 proceeding in October 2013. All papers that meet the IEEE Conference Publication Program requirements of an IEEE quality review will be included in IEEE Xplore Digital Library. IEEE reserves the right to not publish any proceedings that are not meeting the standards. Electronic media containing all accepted GHTC 2013 submissions would be distributed to registered attendees. One author of the best paper in each of the tracks will be invited and funded to present the paper at the GHTC 2013 in October 20-23, 2013 in Silicon Valley, California USA.

Full Paper Submission Deadline: March 08th, 2013 March 29th,2013

  • All submissions must be done online. Submit at https://ieee-ghtc-sas.myreviewroom.com.
  • Submissions must be written in English, must not be longer than 6 pages, minimum font is 10 point, single-spaced, and may include figures, illustrations, and graphs.
  • Notification of acceptance will be sent via email only, and posted on the website. Authors of unaccepted submissions will be notified by email.
  • Authors of accepted papers will have an opportunity to revise their submissions for inclusion in the electronic media until June 1st, 2013.

IEEE Kerala Section convened the IEEE-R10-GOLD International Conference with the theme “Humanitarian Technology Challenges of the 21st Century” during 20-21 February 2010, resulting in a Conference Declaration which outlined the contours of Humanitarian Engineering for the first time in an IEEE context (document available here).
